Interest in Guillen Lukewarm
Dodgers interest in Kansas City outfielder Jose Guillen is believed to be lukewarm at best, despite an Internet report that the interest was strong. Guillen was designated for assignment last week and the Dodgers have no interest in trading for him and picking up any of the remaining $4 million he’s owed, even though the Giants are rumored to be after Guillen.
The Dodgers might get involved if and when Guillen becomes a free agent, especially if Manny Ramirez’s calf injury continues to linger.
There is baggage that comes with Guillern, who has worn out his welcome with seven clubs. Of course, the same was said for Vicente Padilla a year ago, but he’s turned into one of their best acquisitions in recent years. — Ken Gurnick
