Roster Still Not Set

Four hours before first pitch Monday, the Dodgers roster still wasn’t set. They were expected to purchase the contracts of pitchers Will Ohman and Ronald Belisario and infielder Doug Mientkiewicz, but hadn’t cleared 40-man roster space yet. Delwyn Young was expected to go on the disabled list. What happens to Claudio Vargas remains to be seen. He hasn’t pitched in two weeks because of an elbow condition, although the club hasn’t confirmed a specific diagnosis. – Ken Gurnick

This is LA..We’re always fashionably late…..

Shame Lindblom got sent down, he outpitched every man in that pen.

As for what happens to Vargas, who cares – just another one of Ned’s pathetic attempts to go cheap (see Estes, Shawn; Milton, Eric; Weaver, Jeff)

I still say that there’s some team out there who has passable starting pitching (more effective than the Dodgers’ 4th and 5th starters) they would be willing to exchange for Pierre with the Dodgers paying the bulk of Pierre’s salary.

Better to give Lindblom some time down in AA. He’s under control and could benefit from more experience. No need to start his free agency clock prematurely. He’ll be up soon enough if he continues to dominate.

Vargas (and Threets, Sturtze, etc.) needs to go – hopefully Belisario will grab that last bullpen spot. He’s been impressive.

also saw that greg miller was sent to paluca-ville to make room for bellisario on the 40 man.

claudio vargas on the 60-day DL. guess that clears up the the spot for ohman.

assuming that meintkievwicz gets the 40th spot, they got to find a way to get castro on the bench and dewitt playing everyday. I might be smelling a trade…

Dodgers have issues!!!!!!!!!! Dodgers won’t be a contender!!!!!!!!!!!! Y u ask? PITCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY R THE DODGERS PITCHING STAFF STRONG enough to hold on.

Don’t get me wrong, I luv the dodgers. We just don’t have the talent to carry through!!!!!!!!!!

I think that’s just JP’s sour grapes…

Honestly, do you really want two slap hitters on the bench that rarely get the ball out of the infield in JP and Castro? This ST aside, Castro’s a career .228/.268/.331. He’s the only guy with a bat in his hands on the Dodgers that makes Juan Pierre look good.

Just for the record it’s Joshua Lindblom #2 selection in the 2008 draft 61 overall. He will be back. I know Ned knows what he is doing. Unfortunately I am unable to figure why he is doing it.

dodgerdan I agree Lindblom needs at least a couple of months…Enchanted I also agree with you in that he outpitched everyone else, but it better to err on the side of caution…He is a special talent.
